Lampshade Lattice

This project was an assignment for my digital manufacturing course during my graduate studies at Columbia University. The design for this lamp shade was inspired by bubbles. I wanted the shadows created by light shining through the lamp shade to look like how light reflects on a bubbly surface. I used OpenSCAD to make the repetitive, lattice design and uploaded it to shapeways.com to make sure the manufacturing cost was under 500 USD. I then 3D printed the design and placed a LED light inside to see shadow pattern.
